|A Flower Bed|
The weather forecast for Saturday was correct dry until lunchtime and then rain all afternoon. Thankfully I had checked the forecast and made an early start to make the most of the dry weather. Cleaned out the hens and re-potted a few house plants. A babies tear and an Aloe Vera before sowing yet more seeds. A large pot of Mizuma and a pot of Romero ‘radish style’ carrots.
The afternoon was spent wandering around Notcutts Garden Centre in Woodford. This is typical of your large chain garden centers with a very good selection of plants. It has your usual cafe and restaurant as well as an attached maidenhead aquatic for all of your aquatic and water garden needs.. One thing that stood out here was the fixed piece displays that had been set up such as the ‘flower bed’. There was even an interesting use for an old toilet.
On this visit we were particularly interest in the alpines for our new rockery. The selection here was excellent although we had to make frequent dashes outside between rain showers.
The Drumstick Primula looked stunning and will be a future purchase but I didn’t think it would fit in with my pans for the rockery There were several interesting Sedums

This Erysimum in the well laid out bee friendly section was another plant which took my eye but again I resisted temptation.
